New Paradigms for Revolutionary Studies: French-American Colloquium

Organized by Prof. Julia Douthwaite (University of Notre Dame) and Prof. Lesley Walker (Indiana University South Bend)

Sponsored as part of an ongoing collaboration by a team of scholars from the Université de Provence, the Université de Toulouse, the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University South Bend, this workshop is an opportunity for Francophone and Anglophone scholars in literature, history, and art to collaborate in creating the paradigms that will shape future research in revolutionary studies. Keynote speaker Professor Lynn Hunt (History, UCLA) will present on "Revolution and Subjectivity: Towards a New Paradigm?"

Submissions may address topics such as:
Biographical analysis of lesser-known literary writers and artists
Social networks among writers, artists, publishers, readers, reviewers
Interdisciplinary analysis of objects / artifacts
History of reading, literary reception
Representation of inner life, subjectivity
History of the book, publishing
Analysis of political events as impacted by art and literature
Women’s cultural production
The advent of new genres such as the melodrama or gothic fiction
Proposals (in French or English) must be received by November 15, 2007.
